Nothingness in health care can delay necessary care & kill!LuisLomeliMD
3 min - Feb 28, 2008Nothingness is often sold to our patients under the term of health services, products or under the known placebo of homeopathic "remedies." Herbalist or "natural healers" market and sell to our patients rubbish at best. So why is it legal? According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), if a product is not shown to be dangerous, though ineffective, its policy is not to intervene on behalf of the American consumer. Those Icy Hot or Cold Packs are marketed through television as magic therapies that take away a patient's pain in a manner that he's soon shown dancing as if well. There are many ethical issues that concern me and I will address a few. False therapies are not only costly, they may falsely reassure a patient who may need to seek actual care before it is too late. Recently, a parent bought some "Ear Relief" drops to ease her child's ear infection. The product contains no active ingredient, yet it can be sold because it is labeled as a homeopathic product. The promoters of these therapies would love to legally bill a legitimate health care system or public health care system and they lobby for such reimbursement, as do chiropractors. The public assumes that a marketed product must be effective because it is so stated on the product. The public assumes that public laws exist that would forbid false practices or therapies. Only through public education we can remedy the misinformation inherent in a multi-billion industry.
As I work out a complex universal health care for the world, I seek to define all variables that must be addressed before such a system can be made available to all.

This is a political comment regarding the uninsured and about our politicians. The uninsured are being exploited by the hospitals, especially patients that are between the ages of 40 and 64. This group has trillions of dollars in assets that hospitals would love to acquire through exorbitant, and often unneeded, fees. Senator Clinton and Senator McCain can introduce to the senate a resolution whereby hospitals could only charge the uninsured at regular Medicare allowable rates. The legislation can be passed over-night, but these two individuals are more concerned about being elected president than giving you immediate health care access through affordable prices. Ask these political individuals as to why they don't introduce such needed legislation on behalf of the working poor and uninsured. Has Senator Hillary Clinton shown any public remorse for having voted for a war that has now caused over a million dead, including women and children?
Ralph Nader is a person I highly admire. The politicians chose to ignore his message during the 2000 election. For that reason, Bush became president over Al Gore. I look to change health care through the courts. Ralph Nader is the person that inspired me to pursue it in the manner that I am. Health care must be treated as a safe or dangerous product and laws must be enacted in order to make it safer for our patients. If the Democrats again trivialize Ralph Nader, McCain will become our next President. Do we want McCain and his evangelicals, like the born again Bush that invaded Iraq for its oil? We need a centrist candidate for president. We as Americans have chosen to ignore and now forget the most gifted presidential candidates that were once trying, in earnest, to become our president.
